Green – Ag Project
On 28th July, 2020, the government launched the Green-Ag Project in Mizoram with the objective to reduce emissions from agriculture and ensure sustainable agricultural practices.
- It aims to support the achievement of national and global environmental benefits and conservation of critical biodiversity and forest landscapes.
- Further, it aims to cover 35 villages and includes two protected areas — the Dampa Tiger Reserve and the Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Apart from Mizoram, the project will be implemented in other states namely Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Uttarakhand also.
- The pilot project is supposed to end on March 31, 2026, in all states, including Mizoram.
