Production of Lithium in Star
A recent research has solved a forty-year-old puzzle regarding the production of lithium in stars.
- Astronomers regard lithium as fragile metal which easily gets destroyed in the hot interiors of stars. This is confirmed by observations of lithium on the surface of stars. Lithium becomes less abundant as a star age, and it confirms that lithium gradually gets destroyedduring the evolution of a star.Planets are known to have more lithium than their stars — as is the case with the Earth-Sun pair.
