e-Prison Project
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) provided financial assistance of Rs. 99.49 crores to the States and Union Territories for the e-Prisons Project.
About e-Prison Project
- Developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC), the project aims at computerization of the functioning of prisons in the country.
- It is a cloud-based product with a simple user interface and comprehensive security features.
- The system can be accessed through the secure National Informatics Centre (NIC) network, exclusively by the authorized officials of Law Enforcement Agencies and Prisons, through Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).
- It has been operationalized in all States and Union Territories.
