Natural and man-made both factors are responsible for the problem of land degradation in India. It is imperative to formulate a long-term strategy to tackle the problem of land degradation by adopting an approach based on environmental protection. India occupies a large geographical size. Therefore, the land management strategies to be operated in the country have to be divided on the basis of geographical features. Land management strategies can be implemented on the basis of division strategy of agro-climatic zones in the country.
