NCRP Report 2020: Cancer Cases to Rise by 12% by 2025
- According to the National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) Report 2020 released by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR), Bengaluru has predicted that the number of cancer cases in the country will rise to 15.6 lakhs by 2025 - a 12% increase from the current level.
Highlights
- As per the report, tobacco-related cancers account for the largest number of cases (27%), with the highest burden in the North East; gastro-intestinal tract cancer (19.7%) and breast cancer (14.8%) accounted for the next largest numbers.
