Special Economic Zones
- As on 30th June 2019, there were a total of 234 Operational Special Economic Zones (SEZs) against 370 notified SEZs (as on 16th Sept 2019) in the country.
- Total Investment in SEZs (as on 30th June 2019) amounted to Rs.5.09,148.56 Crore and it has generated close to 21,17,685 total employment.
- Exports from SEZs amounted to Rs. 1,85,763 Croreas on 30th June 2019, which is higher from Rs. 7,01,179 Crore in 2018-19 and Rs. 5,81,033 Crore in 2017-18.
- Generic Medicine: In the generics market, India exports 20% of global generics, making it the largest provider of generic medicine globally.
