Telecom Sector
- From a low of 93.30 crore in 2013-2014,total telephone connectionsin India touched 118.34 crore in 2018-19, registering a growth of 26.84 per cent .
- As on March 2019, the total subscription stood at118.34croreout of which 51.42 crore connections were in the rural areas and 66.91 crore in the urban areas.
- The wireless telephony now constitutes 98.17 per cent of all subscriptions whereas share of landline telephones now stands at only 1.83 per cent.
- The overall tele-density in India stands at 90.10 per cent, the rural tele-density being 57.50 per cent and urban tele-density being 159.66 percentattheend 2019.
