Draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) under Fire in Goa
The draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) has stoked a controversy in Goa after the draft met with criticism from locals, environmentalists and political parties.
- Some of the issues with the draft are- 30 day duration to respond to the draft contrary to the 60-day limit provided by the Environment Protection Rules, 1986, re-zoning of beach areas and accommodating allegedly illegal constructions.
- The draft CZMP has been prepared by the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), Chennai.
