- Noted Malayalam writer Ashitha, who potrayed the inner sorrow of women through her touching stories and poems, passed away on March 26th at Thrissur, Kerala.
- She received several awards including the Padmarajan Award (2000), Lalithambika Antharjanam Award (1994) and Edaserri Award (1986).
Anasuya Devi
- Eminent folk artist, radio commentator, harmonium player, music composer and author Vinjamuri Anasuya Devi passed away on March 23rd at Houston, USA.
- She was honored with a Doctorate by Andhra University in 1977 and received a lifetime achievement award in America and ‘Queen of Folk’ award in Paris.
