Emergency Use Approval for Two Vaccines

India's drug regulator, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, has given emergency use authorisation (EUA) to Oxford- AstraZeneca’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s indigenously developed Covaxin. The subject expert committee (SEC) under CDSCO has recommended Covishield, for emergency use and Covaxin for restricted use.

Approved Vaccines

  • Covishield is local name for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine developed in the UK. It is being manufactured by Pune-based Serum Institute of India, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer.
