NASA’s TESS Discovers Exoplanet TOI 700 d
NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) has discovered its first Earth-size exoplanet- TOI 700 d- in the habitable zone of its star. The discovery was later confirmed by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope.
TOI 700 d
- TESS, using the transit method, discovered three planets, named TOI 700 b, c and d, orbiting around a star, TOI 700. TOI stands for ‘Tess Object of Interest’.
- The transit method observes temporary drops in the stars’ luminosity, caused by orbiting planets crossing stars’ faces from the satellite’s perspective. NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope discovered about 70% of the 4,000 known exoplanets using the ....
