India Completes Phase-out of Ozone Depleting Chemical HCFC-141b
India has successfully completed the phasing out of Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-141b, used by foam manufacturing companies and one of the most potent ozone-depleting chemicals.
About HCFC- 141 b
- It is a chemical used by foam manufacturing enterprises.
- HCFC-141b is not produced in the country and all the domestic requirements are met through imports.
- It is used mainly as a blowing agent in the production of rigid polyurethane (PU) foams.
- It is also one of the most potent ozone depleting chemical after Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
