National Clean Air Programme

On 10th January, 2019, the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change launched a five-year national level strategy for pan India implementation to tackle the increasing air pollution problem across the country in a comprehensive manner in the form of National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).

Goal

  • It proposes a tentative national target of 20%-30% reduction in PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations by 2024, with 2017 as the base year for comparison of concentration.
  • The project has a budget of Rs 300 crore for the first two years.
