Renewable Energy Now Accounts for a Third of Global Power Capacity: IRENA
- According to International Renewables Energy Agency (IRENA), a third of global power generation capacity is now being fueled by renewable energy sources.
- Asia accounted for 61% of new capacity in 2018 and continued to dominate the global solar capacity expansion.China, India, Japan and Republic of Korea accounted for most of this.

- India has been working on the world’s largest global green energy programmewith an installed renewable energy capacity of 74.79GW.
- The country’s energy demand is likely to go up by 2.7-3.2 times between 2012 and 2040 fueled by schemes such as SaubhagyaYojanawhich has already provided 99.93% targeted households ....
