Indian Navy Launches INS Imphal
- Indian Navy recently launched its latest warship, INS Imphal, a guided missile destroyer, at the Mazagon Docks in Mumbai.
- It is the third ship under Project 15B.
INS Imphal
- INS Imphal is named after the Battles of Imphal and Kohima that were fought 75 years ago during the World War -II. It is also the first warship to be christened after a city in the north-east.
- Imphal and Kohima saw the face-off between the Allied forces and Japan in WW-II where the latter was defeated and was forced to recede to Myanmar.
