Arab League Condemns US Views On Golan Heights

  • 30th annual summit of the Arab League was held recently in April 2019 in Tunis,Tunisia.
  • The leaders rejected US President’s proclamation which granted legitimacy to Israeli occupation of Golan Heights.
  • They termed the transfer of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem ‘dangerous and unacceptable’. They condemned the move as an attack on the possible solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Arab League:

  • The Arab League is a union of Arab-speaking African and Asian countries formed in Cairo, Egypt in 1945 to promote the independence, sovereignty, affairs and interests of its members.
  • It has 22 members which include Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, ....
