Three new Fish Species Discovered in Western Ghats
Scientists from Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) and few other institutions, after an extensive study spanning eight years, have discovered three new fish species in Western Ghats.

- The researchers employed an integrative approach of evidence-gathering and used morphological and genetic analyses. The study was based on a fresh collection of Dawkinsia, a genus of cyprinid fish specimens from the Western Ghats.
- These fishes are known as filament barbs which represent a group of small freshwater fishes found in the rivers of peninsular India and Sri Lanka, where nine species are known under the genus Dawkinsia.
