One of India’s Smallest Orchids Discovered in Assam
In India, one of the smallest orchids in terms of size and duration of bloom to be recorded botanically has been recently discovered.
About the Orchid
- The orchid ‘Lecanorchis taiwaniana’ discovered accidentally is a variant of a Japanese orchid and is India’s one of the smallest orchids in term of size and duration of bloom to be recorded botanically. This orchid species is also known in Taiwan and Laos.
- This orchid is discovered for the first time in India.
- Its discovery was published in Japenese Journal of Botany with title as ’new record for the flora in India’.
