Prime Minister’s Swearing-In Ceremony Invites World Leaders
India has invited several heads of state, including those from the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) and Kyrghystan, the current chair of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on May 30.
- Invitation of BIMSTEC leaders is in line with government’s focus on its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.
- India is a member of the SCO and the annual SCO meet is scheduled to take place in June 2019.
- President of Bangladesh, Prime Minister of Nepal, Prime Minister of Bhutan and Mauritius will be a part of the ceremony.
