Malaysia hosted APEC Summit 2020
- Recently, a virtual meeting of the 21-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum was held on November 20, 2020. This was the first time that all 21 APEC Economic Leaders met virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This is the second time Malaysia hosted an APEC meeting, having hosted one in 1998.
- USA made its presence in the summit first time since 2017 (after Donald Trump led government decided to left the grouping).
- The theme of the APEC Malaysia 2020 was “Optimising Human Potential Towards a Resilient Future of Shared Prosperity: Pivot. Prioritise. Progress”.
