  • Brunei Darussalam will assume the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2021.

About ASEAN

  • ASEAN is a regional grouping that promotes economic, political, and security cooperation.
  • It was founded in Bangkok, Thailand on 8 August 1967.
  • Members (10): Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand are the five founding members. Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam joined later.
  • Headquarters: Jakarta, Indonesia
