India Plans to Test-fire SLBM K-4
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is planning to test-fire the K-4- an intermediate range submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM). It has been developed for INS Arihant- the indigenously built nuclear submarine.
The K-4 Missile
- Intermediate range, SLBM, designed and developed by DRDO.
- Powered by solid rocket propellants.
- Highly accurate with an estimated strike range of 3500 Kilometres.
- Can carry up to 1 ton nuclear payload.
- Maneuverable with a system of interlacing in three dimensions, making it difficult to be tracked and destroyed by anti ballistic missile systems.
