Global Tuberculosis Report 2020
India reported sharp decline in tuberculosis registration after COVID-19 lockdownaccording to the Global Tuberculosis Report, 2020 released October 14, 2020 by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Highlights of the Report
- India registered a decline in the notification of tuberculosis (TB) cases by about 85 per cent in April 2020, due to a decline in access to TB services in the country after the imposition of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) lockdown.
- India has the highest TB burden across the globe, which accounts for 26 per cent of the total global cases.
