First-Ever Israeli Embassy opens in UAE
On 30th June, 2021, Israel’s new foreign minister inaugurated its first embassy in the United Arab Emirates.
Background
- The UAE and Bahrain normalised relations with Israel last year (2020) under so-called “Abraham Accords” crafted by the U.S. administration.
Key Features of Abraham Accords
- Under the agreement, UAE and Bahrain will establish embassies and exchange ambassadors.
- Working together with Israel across a range of sectors, including tourism, trade, healthcare and security.
- The Abraham Accords also opened the doors for Muslims around the world to visit the historic sites in Israel and to peacefully pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site ....
