Alcohol Abuse and DNA Change: NIMHANS Study
A recent study by NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences) has revealed that excessive alcohol consumption can cause irreversible changes to the DNA.
Key Findings
- It is common knowledge that excessive alcohol consumption is bad for health. But the assumption that all the damage can be set right after a person stops drinking is not true. The study found that changes may persist even when alcohol consumption is stopped.
