2020 CD3: Earth’s New Mini-moon
On 15th February, researchers at the NASA-funded Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona discovered a new mini moon of the Earth- 2020 CD3.
2020- CD3
- It is about the size of a car, roughly 1.9-3.5 metres in diameter, and is likely to be a C-type asteroid.
- It is the second asteroid known to orbit Earth after 2006 RH120, which was also discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey and rotated around the earth from September, 2006 to June, 2007.
- Its route suggests it entered Earth’s orbit three years ago.
