ESA-NASA Launch Solar Orbiter Mission
The Solar Orbiter Mission- a joint effort of NASA and European Space Agency (ESA)- was launched on 10th February.
Solar Orbiter Mission
- Solar Orbiter was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, by NASA’s Atlas V 411 rocket.
- Armed with a robust heat shield, it will travel to as close as 26 million miles from the Sun.
- Having ten instruments onboard, it will combine in situ and remote sensing observations to obtain new information about the Sun.
- Dedicated to solar and heliospheric physics, it will focus on four key areas of investigation:
- (a)The solar wind and the origin of the corona’s magnetic field;
