QUAD Workshop on Pandemic Preparedness

On 17th March 2025, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare inaugurated the QUAD Workshop on Pandemic Preparedness for the Indo-Pacific Region in New Delhi, focusing on enhancing global health emergency frameworks and coordinated pandemic responses.

  • The three-day workshop is being held under India's presidency and jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
  • The primary objective is to strengthen global pandemic preparedness, enhance health system resilience, and ensure effective responses to evolving health threats.
  • The workshop promotes the One Health approach, addressing human, animal, and environmental health through a comprehensive multisectoral strategy.
  • Delegates from 15 Indo-Pacific countries along with international health organizations are participating in the discussions.
  • India has contributed USD 10 million to the Pandemic Fund and pledged an additional USD 12 million to support sustained efforts in combating pandemics.
