8th Meeting of Joint Committee on AITIGA

On 11th April 2025, the 8th Meeting of the Joint Committee on the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) concluded in New Delhi, marking a significant step towards modernizing trade ties between India and ASEAN nations.

  • The primary objective was to advance the ongoing review of AITIGA to make it more modern, effective, and business-friendly.
  • The Ministry emphasized ASEAN's vital role as a trade partner, accounting for 11% of India’s global trade.
  • Bilateral trade between India and ASEAN reached USD 121 billion in FY 2023-24.
  • Delegates from all 10 ASEAN countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam – participated in the deliberations.
