On 7th March 2025, Jan Aushadhi Diwas, observed annually highlights the success of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) in providing high-quality, affordable generic medicines to the public.

• The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), launched in 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, aims to make essential medicines accessible to all, especially the economically disadvantaged.
• Over 15,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) have been established nationwide to distribute cost-effective generic medicines at prices 50%-80% lower than branded alternatives.
• The initiative counters the misconception that higher-priced medicines offer better quality, ensuring that generic drugs meet the same therapeutic standards as their branded counterparts.
