Dr. Manmohan Singh, Former PM, Dies at 92

On 26th December, 2024, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India and renowned economist, passed away at the age of 92 after battling health issues.
- He served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014 and played a pivotal role in the economic transformation of the country.
- As Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, Dr. Singh spearheaded economic reforms that opened India’s economy to the world and modernized it.
- His two terms as Prime Minister saw landmark initiatives in education, food security, and information access, contributing significantly to India’s economic growth.
- Dr. Singh, who represented Assam for five terms in the Rajya Sabha, retired earlier this year and had also served as the Leader of the Opposition between 1998 and 2004.
