On 4th November 2024, the fifth edition of the India-Vietnam bilateral military exercise, “VINBAX 2024,” commenced in Ambala, aiming to enhance joint military capabilities and deepen ties between the two countries.

  • VINBAX 2024, a joint field training exercise between India and Vietnam, started on 4th November and will continue until 23rd November, taking place at Ambala and Chandimandir.
  • This year’s edition marks a milestone by expanding its scope to a bi-service level, with active participation from both the Army and Air Force of India and Vietnam.
  • The Indian Army’s contingent includes 47 personnel from a Regiment of the Corps of Engineers, alongside participants from other arms and services.
  • Similarly, Vietnam’s contingent of the Vietnam People’s Army consists of an equal number of troops to foster a balanced representation from both nations.
  • The exercise aims to enhance joint military skills, focusing on deploying engineer companies and medical teams in United Nations peacekeeping operations under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
  • VINBAX 2024 will involve a 48-hour validation exercise, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief demonstrations, and an equipment display to assess operational readiness for UN missions.
  • In addition to military collaboration, the exercise will allow troops from both nations to explore each other's social and cultural heritage, fostering a deeper cultural connection.
