PM Launches Projects Worth Rs. 6,700 Crore in UP

On 20th October, 2024, Prime Minister inaugurated and announced developmental projects totaling Rs. 6,700 crore in Uttar Pradesh (UP), including 16 projects in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

  • PM made the announcements from the Sports Complex in Sigra, Varanasi, where he also inaugurated the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital, which will benefit 20 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states.
  • The new eye hospital, run by the Kanchi Math, will provide essential healthcare services to regions including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
  • Out of the total Rs. 6,700 crore, 16 development projects worth Rs. 3,200 crore are specifically focused on enhancing infrastructure in Varanasi.
  • PM laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the runway and construction of a new terminal at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, a project costing approximately Rs. 2,870 crore.
  • The airport expansion aims to boost connectivity and economic growth in the region, making Varanasi a critical hub for travellers and businesses alike.
