JAL VIDYUT DPR Portal
- 22 Aug 2024
On 20th August 2024, Union Minister launched the JAL VIDYUT DPR portal, a digital platform aimed at enhancing the monitoring and coordination of hydroelectric and pumped storage projects across India.
- The JAL VIDYUT DPR portal is a strategic initiative by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) to support the development of hydropower and pumped storage projects, crucial for grid stability during energy transitions.
- The portal provides a comprehensive view of a project’s development status, ensuring improved management and coordination throughout the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation process.
- Currently, 11 hydroelectric projects with a combined capacity of 9 GW and 39 pumped storage projects with a capacity of 57 GW are under survey and investigation for DPR preparation.
- Developed by CEA, the portal offers a centralized platform for monitoring survey and investigation activities, facilitating seamless communication between developers and appraising agencies like the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Geological Survey of India (GSI).
- The platform aims to enhance efficiency and transparency by providing real-time tracking of pending tasks and expediting the DPR approval process, aligning with the government's ease of doing business initiatives.
- In addition to JAL VIDYUT DPR, the minister also launched the DRIPS and PROMPT portals, further strengthening the digital infrastructure of the power sector.
