- Rapid Urbanisation: According to the Census 2011, the population of India's census towns increased by over 185 per cent between 2001 and 2011, but only by 0.36 per cent in villages.
- Unsustainable Urban Growth: When compared to the urban population, the major lateral expansion in the city region is extremely modest. According to the 2011 Census, NCT has a population density of 11,297 per square kilometre, which is significantly higher than the national average of 382 per square kilometre.
- Migration: An overwhelming amount of people have moved to metropolitan regions due to a lack of work opportunities, healthcare, educational opportunities, ....
