Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs)
Significance
- Create Awareness: By educating the public on nutrition, fundamental sanitation & hygienic habits, healthy living & working conditions, etc., they raise awareness of health determinants.
- Assists in Birth Preparation: ASHA offers advice to expectant mothers on topics such as birth planning, the value of a safe delivery, breastfeeding, contraception, immunisation, child care, and the prevention of STIs and RTIs (reproductive tract infections).
- Serve as Basic Medical Providers: ASHA offers first medical attention for minor injuries and illnesses including fever and diarrhoea.
