Vedanta Desikan and Srivaishnava Tradition

Recently, a postage stamp was launched to commemorate the 750th birth anniversary of Sri Vedanta Desikan.

  • Vedanta Desikanwas one of the most prominent preceptors in Srivaishnava tradition. He helped in preaching and propagating the sect via his writings. One of the essential features of his philosophy was the aspect of inclusion i.e. anyone, irrespective of caste and creed could join the Srivaishnava fold, obliterating caste distinctions and thus making it a truly democratic movement.
