Spices Board Unveils SPICED Scheme
On 19th September, 2024, the Spices Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched the ‘Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development (SPICED)’ Scheme.
Salient Features
Aim
- Enhancing the export of spices and value-added spice products.
Duration
- It will be implemented during the remaining period of the 15th Finance Commission cycle, until FY 2025-26.
Beneficiaries
- The scheme prioritizes assistance to farmers’ Groups (FPOs, FPCs, SHGs), SC/ST Communities and SMEs (Particularly from the North-Eastern regions) and Exporters.
Expected Impact
- Facilitate value addition and drive innovation and sustainability in the spice sector.
