- The characteristics of desert ecosystem include sparse vegetation, harsh temperatures, less than 10 cm rainfall per year, extremely low humidity in the atmosphere, hot and dry desert areas, etc.
- Desert ecosystems exist throughout the world and cover approximately 17 percent of desert areas.
- Desert ecosystems are home to a wide variety of fauna, including: camels, foxes, jackals, owls, hyenas, wild goats and sheep, vultures, scorpions, ostriches, hawks, snakes, lizards and desert reptiles.
