123rd Constitution Amendment Bill
- The Parliament has recently passed the Constitution 123rd Amendment Bill giving constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
- It will give the commission full powers to safeguard the rights and interests of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
- It introduces Article 338B under which the duties of the Commission will be to“investigate and monitor”the matters related to preserving the safeguards forOBCs and evaluate how effective these safeguards are.
- It added article 342-A to empower the president to notify the list of socially and educationally backward classes of that state /union territory in consultation with the Governor of the concerned ....
