Maldives Not to Renew Hydrography Cooperation MoU with India
Recently, the Maldives Cabinet has decided against renewing the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India for cooperation in hydrography.
- The MoU, expiring in 2024, was a part of the 'India first' policy under the previous Ibrahim Mohamed Solih administration.
- This decision follows President Mohamed Muizzu's commitment to send back Indian troops stationed in the Maldives, signalling a shift in the country's foreign policy.
