National Technology Day

India celebrated National Technology Day on 11th May, 2021. Since 1999, the day is being celebrated as National Technology Day.

  • It is celebrated to commemorate various innovations and technological excellence achieved by the country.
  • 11th May, 1998 happens to be an important day as it is on this day that India successfully carried out the nuclear tests in Pokharan, Rajasthan, declaring herself as a nuclear weapons power. On the same day, first indigenous aircraft ‘Hansa-3’ was test flown at Bangalore and successful test firing of the Trishul missile was carried out.
