Postal Stamps of Vedanta Desikan Unveiled
- On 4th May, 2019, to commemorate the 750th birth anniversary of ‘Vedanta Desikan’ postal stamps were unveiled.
- Vedanta Desikan (Born in 1268 CE), was a Vaishnava philosopher and one of the most brilliant stalwarts of Vaishnavism in the post-Ramanuja period.
- He was the disciple of Kidambi Appullar (Aathreya Ramanujachariar).
- During his lifetime, he received various titles such as ‘Kavitarkika-Kesari’ and ‘Kavitarkika-Simham’ (Lion amongst poets); and ‘Ramanuja-Daya-Patram’.
