ASI Unearths Underground Sacred Chambers in UP
On 1st May, 2019, the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) unearthed old burial sites including underground sacred chambers in Uttar Pradesh’s Sanauli (Baghpat district). These findings are important to understand the culture pattern of the Upper Ganga-Yamuna doab.
Major Excavations
- Three chariots, two legged coffins, copper shields, swords and helmets had been unearthed, pointing towards the existence of a warrior class in the area around 2,000 BCE.
- Rice and urad dal in pots, cattle bones, wild pig and mongoose buried along with bodies are found.
