Pope Francis Dies at 88 in Vatican

On 21st April 2025, Pope Francis, the first Latin American pontiff and a reform-minded leader of the Roman Catholic Church, died at the age of 88 after a long battle with pneumonia.

His death comes a day after his final public appearance on Easter Sunday, where he greeted crowds in St. Peter’s Square and offered a special blessing.
Francis had recently been discharged from a 38-day hospital stay due to double pneumonia, a condition he had been battling before his death.
