  • Infrastructure Development: Key facilities such as fish drying yards, processing centers, fish markets, fishing jetties, ice plants, cold storage, and emergency rescue infrastructure will be constructed.
  • Sustainable Livelihoods: Special emphasis on climate-resilient aquaculture and mariculture, including seaweed farming, ornamental fish cultivation, and bivalve farming.
  • Socio-Economic Support: Livelihood assistance, nutritional aid, and insurance coverage for traditional fishing families during fishing bans and lean periods under PMMSY.
  • Research & Development: ICAR Fisheries Research Institutes are driving technology innovations in marine and inland aquaculture, supported by government funding.
  • Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries: India is involved in the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) Project, co-funded by GEF and NORAD, promoting sustainable fisheries management while balancing ecological and economic interests.
