- India has launched multiple initiatives to link forest conservation with food security, sustainable livelihoods, and ecological restoration.
- The National Agroforestry Policy, introduced in 2014, promotes tree plantation on farmland to enhance agricultural productivity and soil health while providing additional income for farmers.
- The Green India Mission (GIM) aims to increase forest and tree cover by 5 million hectares while improving ecosystem services like carbon sequestration and water conservation.
