IRCTC and IRFC Granted Navratna Status

On 3rd March 2025, the central government conferred Navratna status upon Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), increasing the total number of Navratna companies in India to 26.

  • The Department of Public Enterprises recognised the strong financial performance of both public sector enterprises under the Ministry of Railways.
  • Navratna status grants enhanced autonomy, allowing these companies to make financial investments of up to ₹1,000 crore without requiring central government approval.
