Sam Nujoma

On 9th February 2025, Sam Nujoma, Namibia’s first democratically elected president and a key figure in the country’s liberation from apartheid South Africa, passed away at the age of 95.

Nujoma led Namibia to independence in 1990 and served three terms as president until 2005, earning the title "Founding Father of the Namibian Nation."
His leadership was marked by national reconciliation efforts, the establishment of democratic institutions, and a “One Namibia, One Nation” vision for unity.
