On 9th February 2025, Sam Nujoma, Namibia’s first democratically elected president and a key figure in the country’s liberation from apartheid South Africa, passed away at the age of 95.

  • Nujoma led Namibia to independence in 1990 and served three terms as president until 2005, earning the title "Founding Father of the Namibian Nation."
  • His leadership was marked by national reconciliation efforts, the establishment of democratic institutions, and a “One Namibia, One Nation” vision for unity.
