RBI Introduces ‘.bank.in’ Domain for Indian Banks

On 7th February 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched the ‘.bank.in’ domain and enhanced authentication for digital transactions to strengthen financial security.
- RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced the exclusive ‘.bank.in’ domain for Indian banks, set to launch in April 2025, to help customers identify legitimate banking websites.
- A similar ‘.fin.in’ domain will be introduced for the broader financial sector to curb online financial fraud.
- Additional authentication factors for digital transactions will be extended to international online payments made to offshore merchants for enhanced security.
- The RBI is introducing new interest rate derivative products, including forward contracts for government securities, to assist long-term investors in managing interest rate risks.
